Roof Collapsed at Cremation Ground in Moradabad

A traumatic incident happened at Moradabad Crematorium in UP on Sunday.

25 people lost their lives and several are injured when a roof collapsed at the cremation ground at Moradabad city in Ghaziabad.

The whole incident happened on Sunday, 3 January when over 75 people are present under a shelter at Moradabad crematorium.

They were gathered there to attend the funeral(last rites) of a local resident Jairam, who was died on Saturday. But at the time of the funeral, it started raining. So they went for shelter under a structure, where the roof collapsed and trapped the lives of about 25 people and injured many. Most of them were the relatives of the dead person.

A team of NDRF(National Disaster Rescue Force) also rushed there to help the trapped people.

Ghaziabad police have registered an FIR over the matter. people are demanding that the contractor responsible for the construction of shelter at the cremation ground should be arrested.

Prime minister Narendra Modi, President Ramnath Kovind, Vice president M.Venkaiah Naidu and chief minister Aadityanath Yogi expressed their grief over this traumatic incident that happens at the cremation ground.

Yogi Aadityanath announced 2 lakh financial relief to the families of each person killed in the incident.

Aadityanath tweeted  “I express my condolences to the near and dear ones of those who lost their lives in the accident, and also hope for a quick recovery of injured”.

Pm Modi tweeted in Hindi  “The unfortunate incident in moradanagar, Uttar Pradesh has caused to my great sorrow. The state government is engaged in the rescue work. I express my condolences to the relatives of those who lost their lives in this accident, as well as with injured to get well soon”.
